When you look at your body, do you feel that there are areas that have too much fat and then there are areas that have too little fat? You may wish that you could just take some fat from certain areas and put it in other areas. This is exactly what happens with a fat transfer. We invite you to learn about how this procedure is done, how it can benefit you, and if you are a good candidate for it.

What Is a Fat Transfer?

In its most basic form, the above-mentioned explanation is how the procedure is performed. Healthy fat cells are taken from areas of your body where you want the fat removed and then are placed in areas where you need more volume.

There are specific areas where people usually have unwanted pockets of fat on their body. Donor fat areas usually include the abdominal area, thighs, and the buttocks. A popular way that fat transfer is done is to remove unwanted fat from the abdominal area and inject it into the buttocks or till fill lines in the face. Almost any place where a person feels like they could use a little bit more volume can usually benefit from a fat transfer.

Enjoy an Improved Appearance

There are two main reasons why our clients are interested in having this procedure done. The first is because they simply do not like certain parts of their body that they were born with. For example, a person may not like the fact that they were born with few curves. So they can have the procedure done in order to add more volume to their backside. Because of modern procedures, you are no longer stuck with an appearance that you do not like.

The aging process causes a person to lose volume in many areas of the body. A fat transfer can be the perfect solution to help individuals regain a youthful and more plump appearance in the face, buttocks, breast or hands.

Are You a Good Candidate?

If you would like to enjoy the benefits that come from a fat transfer procedure, you may wonder if you qualify for treatment. The first qualification is having an area on your body where enough donor fat can be removed from. Most individuals have a bit of unwanted fat on their buttocks, hips, thighs, or abdominal area. The amount you want removed has to be enough to fill the area you want to plump.  Sometimes patients are thin and they don’t have enough fat to fill a larger areas such as the buttocks.  The fat that is transferred does not grow therefore enough fat must be available from the liposuction procedure to adequately plump the desired area.

Patient’s who smoke are not good candidates for fat transfer. Smoking can destroy the transferred fat increasing risk of complications.

If have a fat transfer, you have to avoid any pressure to the area for at least 8 weeks. To be a good candidate for the procedure, you must be willing to follow the post treatment care that is suggested.

At the Falcone Center we use Body-Jet Liposuction (Water assisted Liposuction WAL) or Vaser Liposelection with the Puregraft system for harvesting the fat for transfer. Both techniques are designed to carefully extract the fat and process it optimizing the cells prior to transfer.

When you visit the Falcone Center for your initial consultation, we will examine your overall health with the goal of determining if a fat transfer is right for you. We are conveniently located in Bala Cynwyd, PA, Maple Shade and Lambertville, NJ. Contact us today to schedule your consultation!
