See us for Kybella™ in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maple Shade, New Jersey, Bala Cynwyd , Pennsylvania, and the surrounding areas. The Falcone Center for Functional, Cosmetic and Regenerative Medicine offers Kybella™ treatment to residents interested in eliminating their double chin.
The body processes fat less efficiently as it ages, and excess fat under your chin might make you feel uncomfortable or self-conscious. Kybella™ is a newly approved treatment by the FDA, and it can dissolve excess fat to make both men and women feel more confident and look younger.
What Is Kybella™?
An injectable treatment, Kybella™ mimics deoxycholic acid, which is a natural chemical in the body that processes fat cells. A lot of people have double chins but would prefer to have a sculpted, youthful appearance. This injectable targets and dissolves fat cells to eliminate them and prevent them from returning. Until Kybella™, the only method of getting rid of a double chin was invasive plastic surgery procedures such as liposuction, lower facelifts and neck lifts.
Benefits of Kybella™
There are several benefits that Kybella™ offers:
- It’s a noninvasive procedure*.
- It destroys the fat cells that produce the double chin*.
- The injections can be administered at The Falcone Center and take less than one hour each*.
- The treatment requires no downtime or recovery time afterward*.
Does Kybella™ Actually Work?
In two clinical trials consisting of more than 1,000 participants, those who received Kybella™ injections had noticeably reduced double chins compared to the participants who did not receive the treatment. Also, the FDA has approved Kybella™ as a safe alternative to plastic surgery.
What Results Can Be Expected With Kybella™?
The treatment sessions for Kybella™ are similar to other injectable procedures such as Restylane®, Botox® and Juvederm®. Each session involves between 10 and 20 injections, but up to 50 could be needed if your double chin is severe. Dr. Falcone will photograph, mark and numb the target area prior to the injections. It will take about 20 to 30 minutes for each session, and they can be scheduled with a few weeks in between.
You might have some side effects from the Kybella™ injections, including tenderness, swelling, mild bruising and bleeding. The treatment site might also feel firmer than the other areas of your neck, jawline, and chin. This is normal and does not usually last for more than two or three days. Most patients experience results after just two or three sessions, but more sessions could be scheduled.
Is Kybella™ Approved for Use in Other Areas of Body Fat?
The FDA has only given its approval for Kybella™ to be used under the chin, so it is not approved for other uses such as belly or arm fat. Some research suggests that the injections could help with small fat pockets under the eyes, but safety risks are involved with such use. Further testing is required to determine whether other uses would be suitable.
What Is the Cost for Kybella™?
The price of your Kybella™ treatment will be based on how many injections and treatment sessions that you need to obtain the best results. The procedure is similar to other dermal fillers, so you can expect similar pricing. Health insurers are unlikely to cover the treatment because it is considered a cosmetic procedure. At The Falcone Center, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and financing via CareCredit®.
Is Kybella™ the Right Choice for Me?
Dr. Falcone recommends Kybella™ for individuals who feel embarrassed, unattractive or uncomfortable due to their double chins. The injectable has been successful for both men and women who have excess fat under their chins.
