Lipedema patients often require multiple procedures to safely reshape the leg and buttock areas. The entire circumference of the thighs or calves should not be reduced in one session of liposuction as it will increase risk and complications. By separating areas into multiples surgical sessions, significant improvement can be achieved in a more safe and effective manner.
The preferred technique for surgical lipedema treatment is Water Assisted Liposuction (WAL). Dr. Falcone has performed the WAL procedure using the Aquashape by Body Jet device for over 10 years.
This 70+ year old patient was having difficulty walking due to her Lipedema. Using Aquashape by Body Jet, (WAL) this patient underwent a series of procedures designed to increase mobility with safety in mind due to her age and size. The procedures were completed while the patient was awake using tumescent local anesthesia infused with the Aquashape by Body Jet, WAL technique.
