Intense Pulsed Light Can Turn Back the Clock on Sun Damage*
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL®) is best known for its ability to treat vascular conditions such as broken capillaries, also known as spider veins. The treatment uses a broad spectrum light to treat sun-damaged skin on the face, neck, hands, and chest. IPL® can be an ideal treatment for someone looking to tackle several problem areas at the same time*. We use Skintel® Melanin Reader to determine the melanin density of the skin before administering IPL®. This helps Dr.Falcone determine the treatment settings for better results.
IPL® can diminish or remove the following:
- Age spots
- Liver spots
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Facial flushing
The wavelength of the light can be adjusted so that it can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to age spots and any other type of sun damage. The light from the procedure is absorbed into the structure or skin component causing tissue damage.
For example, when treating unsightly broken capillary veins near the surface of the skin, the light is absorbed into the blood and lessens and eventual removes their appearance.
When treating age spots, the light damages the melanin (the pigment in the skin that causes age spots) allowing it to be reabsorbed into the body. Using IPL® damages layers of the skin, which in turn causes the body to replace it with new cells, creating a more youthful appearance.
Are Intense Pulsed Light Treatments for You?
While we all enjoy the sun, it can cause damage to the skin that appears in a number of forms. From age spots to wrinkles to the increased appearance of broken capillary veins, the sun can do as much damage as it can good for your system.
If you are a sun-lover and have begun to notice the start of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, or other sun damage, IPL® treatments can help reverse the effects of your time in the sun.
Other benefits of IPL® treatments are as follows:
- Nearly immediate results*
- Long-lasting results continue to improve over time*
- Treatment requires no downtime*
IPL® treatments also encourage your body to replace the treated and damaged cells with healthy new skin cells. IPL® treatments can produce results that last for years, allowing you to keep your more youthful appearance longer.
