Most dermal fillers are similar in that they are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the human body.
However, the different fillers such as Restylane® and Juvederm® also have subtle differences. They vary in the thickness or cross-linking of the products and how long they last under the skin before being absorbed by the tissues.
Hyaluronic acid fillers offer the following benefits:
- More control over volume. The injector has better control over how much substance is placed*.
- Minimal bruising. Swelling and potential bruising are minimized by Dr. Falcone’s frequent use of injection cannulas*.
- Long-lasting results. While the results are not permanent, they can be long-lasting* depending on the filler selected.
- The filler can be reversed. If for some reason you do not like your result, the filler can be dissolved with injection of Hylenex into the area. This should give you peace of mind in deciding to try injectable filler for the first time. The filler can be long-lasting but it can also be reversed easily if needed.
